EXPERT GUIDANCE
Hi, my name is Paul Beaudry. I’ve been a working professional for over 25 years. Several years ago I began to ask the question: “What makes a team work really well?” After having been in countless situations where a group dynamic was really flowing and others where the dynamic had gotten really stuck I began to wonder if it’s only by chance that a group works well together. Do you just show up for work and hope for the best? Just “put up” with each other until there’s a personnel change and then hope again that this time it’s better? Is there any hope if something is not working? Do you just mentally resign and wait for the end of the work day? The end of the week? Your vacation? Your retirement? Wow, that’s a lot of moments of your life to throw away just waiting to not be present in the vocation that’s sustaining your life. Do you do the same thing at home? Just put up and wait it out until you get back to work?
What’s missing? Understanding yourself and how you relate to others. How would you like to turn that stuck environment into flow? How would you feel if your colleagues understood you better and you had a greater understanding of them as well? What if you could do this at home too?
Welcome to Intentional Collaboration. Intentional Collaboration is a 5-step process designed to guide you toward how to use your strengths and when. It also trains you to find those strengths in others so you can bring them out when you or others need them. Everyone is unique and different. While teamwork can lead to awesome results not possible by an individual acting alone, if not understood it can also lead to a barely tolerable situation where there’s a minimum of constructive output and goals are barely reached if at all. Intentional Collaboration is a process that untangles personality, perception and thinking traits that often go unnoticed which hold the key to group success.
It’s like an orchestra where each instrument has its unique contribution to the group. You have to assess your ensemble and make sure you give each instrument the right music. If you give trumpet music to the violins and violin music to the trumpets they will both struggle and the music for the whole group won’t sound right. When each instrument has the right parts everyone can shine and being their best to the symphonic whole creating a memorable experience for the musicians, the conductor, and the audience. This is Intentional Collaboration.
